Welcome to the Sun Bay Hotel in Hope Cove. A delightful family owned and run 14 bedroom hotel in South Devon.
We are situated 50 yards from the three clean, golden sandy beaches of Hope Cove, overlooking a sea view on the famous Devon Coastal path.
Our dining room, bar, sun terrace, and most of our bedrooms look out over Bigbury Bay towards Eddystone Lighthouse, and command delightful views of Bolt Tail. The towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth lie within easy reach of Hope Cove. Slightly further afield are the cities of Plymouth and Torquay.
A beautiful Devon village that is a safe and unspoilt haven to escape from the hurly burly of modern life, with lovely thatched cottages and unspoilt beaches.
The Hotel is now under new ownership, and has undergone full refurbishment. This has included a completely refitted kitchen, a new spacious lounge and bar area complete with log fire, and a complete redecoration.
Rooms & Facilities
All our rooms are en-suite with either a shower or bath and most have breath taking views out to sea. Each room has a television, WIFI access, coffee and tea making facilities, and a hairdryer. As well as a choice of double and twin rooms, we also have two family rooms with a double bed along with either a single bed or family bunk-beds.
We look forward to welcoming you in our fully-stocked and recently refurbished bar and lounge. Why not enjoy a relaxing drink while enjoying breathtaking views over the bay from our sun terrace. It's an ideal place to appreciate the stunning natural beauty of Hope Cove. If you visit during the Spring or Autumn, why not join us during the cooler evenings and share the warmth of our real log fire in the snug area of the bar?
We're family and pet friendly and the Hotel is an ideal base for walkers, the Devon coast path runs right through the village. You can go West and walk to Bolt Tail and enjoy the views from the cliffs. There is the opportunity to indulge in a wide selection of watersports, including sailing and boating from Whitestrand Boat Hire, boat trips in Salcombe, and windsurfing at Thurlestone. Both Bigbury and Thurlestone have 18 hole golf courses.
An ironic delight of Hope Cove is that mobile telephone coverage is patchy at best. In case you do feel like breaking from your retreat we are pleased to provide 3G Vodafone mobile coverage throughout the hotel. We also have Wireless Broadband Internet available free of charge to all residents.

Restaurant
We understand the importance of providing good food, and offer a professional, warm and friendly service in beautiful surroundings. Our comfortable and intimate restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy an excellent meal after a long day relaxing on the beach or enjoying the Devon coastal scenery. We source fresh local produce whenever possible, including line-caught fish from the local fishermen. Our lunchtime menu offers a variety of home-made dishes including soup, sandwiches, scrumptious salads, along with a children's menu and a delicious selection of desserts.
Our Head Chef, David Bunn, has created a great selection of menus, including a seasonal a la carte and specially selected vegetarian dishes. See Menu. We also boast an extensive winelist to complement our plentiful, honest food. From fine reds, to cooling whites, and of course champagne for those special occasions.
