Breakfast is usually served in the bedroom but may be served in the dining room or the garden if you prefer. Choose from a full English with sausages and bacon from the local butcher or Smoked haddock and Poached eggs or Eggs Benedict might take your fancy, fresh fruit and homemade granola are a lighter option. There is an extensive menu from to select your dream breakfast. Freshly-squeezed juices, Illy Italian coffee, a selection of teas and go to make a breakfast experience complete with style.
Morning Coffee is served in the Hall or front garden and includes homemade biscuits and the papers will have arrived from the village.
The house is nestled on the edge of the moor ideal for walking and Charlie the Chocolate Labrador is always willing to be “borrowed”, and your pets can come to stay by prior arrangement.
Horse riding on the moors can also be arranged and there are plenty of interesting and historic towns nearby to visit. The beautiful beaches of the South Hams are approximately ½ hour drive away. See Activities with us.
Alternatively while away your time with a good book on the big lawn, surrounded by the Rhododendrons. There are plenty of books to borrow for you to curl up with in a secluded corner, with your favourite beverage to hand.
Afternoon Tea is a highlight for all who stay at Garfield and is served in the Nursery or one of the lawns. Little sandwiches, homemade cakes and biscuits, toasted muffins and of course scones, made on the premises to Joyce Molyneaux’s recipe smothered with Devon clotted cream and jam.
In the evening, pre-dinner drinks and canapés are served in the Hall prior to the meal which is served in the Dining Room. Guests are invited to “dress” for dinner but this is not mandatory. On very warm evenings meals can be served in the garden. See Dine with us.
Pets are also welcome by prior arrangement. Our own pets Charlie the Labrador, and the cats Freddie and Wilma (pictured) are in residence at Garfield House. However they reside in our private quarters and do their best to stay completely out of sight unless you invite them over!
